A GREYISH-CELADON JADE EWER AND COVER
17TH CENTURY
The ewer is carved and pierced with overlapping petals decorated in shallow relief with panels of flowers including lotus and prunus and calligraphic inscriptions. The handle is carved and pierced and surmounted by a clambering chilong while the spout has a monster-head terminal. The upturned leaf-form cover is also surmounted by an openwork chilong. The stone is of a mottled greyish-celadon tone with white flecks and inclusions.
