IMPORTANT ASSOCIATION COPY IN MINT DUST-JACKET. The novel is inscribed to William Plomer, the poet and novelist who had worked with Ian Fleming in Naval Intelligence during the war and who acted as literary advisor to Jonathan Cape. It was not until 1948 that Fleming began to look to Plomer to extend his contacts in the literary world and in publishing, and through him that he came to know the publisher. In May 1952 Fleming gave Plomer the draft copy of his first novel Casino Royale which the latter enthusiastically read and passed on to Jonathan Cape who accepted the novel for publication in April 1953.
