A one-page manuscript letter of 12 lines, from the Imperial Hotel, Cork, Tuesday thirty first August 1858, to Captain Chads, declining an invitation: "It would have afforded Mr. Dickens the greatest pleasure and interest, if he could possibly have accepted the courteous invitation ... But unfortunately his time is so occupied, that he has only one poor quarter of an hour for Queenstown" (creased on folds).
