A RARE LARGE CIZHOU PAINTED 'TIGER' PILLOW
JIN DYNASTY (1115-1234)
The pillow is potted in the form of a recumbent tiger resting its head on its front paws, the stripes and details are painted in brown on a white slip, as is the scene of a scholar reclining on a promontory staring up at the overhanging pine tree underneath a full moon which is painted on the canted top, all under a clear glaze.
