With Rolex Service Center invoice dated 7 March 2013.

The present lot is one example of the most inventive and striking dial variations found on a Day-Date. Not only the aesthetic result is simply breathtaking, but also the dial production process is highly complex, explaining the very limited number of such pieces produced. As one can immediately see, the only designations found on the dial are "Rolex" and "Day-Date", inscribed into what appears to be metal cartouches. This is because the construction process for the dial is similar to that adopted for diamond pavé dials for Daytona models: the raw metal plate of the dial is carved, leaving untouched only the two rectangular "islands" that will house the designations. Then, diamonds are encased in the metal: the set stones are at a height that is on par with the metal islands, thus the finished dial looks absolutely even. The icing on the cake of this very remarkable timepiece is its condition: obviously treated with the utmost respect over the years and worn only a few times, the watch maintains its original case proportions, presents hardly any sign of wear, and still has the original green Rolex sticker to the case back.
