Lot Essay

The brig Star, 136 tons, was built at Peterhead in 1834 and owned by G. Law & Co. of that city. Initially trading wherever there was a cargo, by 1840 she was running regularly from Peterhead to Archangel and continued on that route for five years. Captain Seller remained in command of her throughout this peiod but in the late 1840's she was sold to R. Taylor of South Shields, Tyneside, given a new master, and put onto the Baltic run. Still trading out of South Shields in 1870, she disappears from Lloyd's Registers soon afterwards and was presumably lost.
