Built by Green's of Blackwall in 1842, the Prince of Wales was one of their 'Blackwall Frigates' Indiaman, so-called as they all had the single-decked appearance of a warship. Especially fitted out for carrying troops to the East, she had a classical female figurehead and the Prince of Wales feathers on her stern.
