Large engraved vignette on title, engraved portrait of Emperor Rudolf II and opposite engraved dedicatory full-page emblem, 138 oblong or oval engravings in text with Latin motto. (Title soiled and repaired at two corners, some marginal waterstaining, heavier at end.) Brown calf by Riviere, gilt spine, turn-ins and red edges. Provenance: unidentified ownership inscription on title -- Thomas South (bookplate) -- [H. Yates Thompson] -- A. H. Bright (bookplate).
