This design for this table, especially in the scrolled pediment, is related to the design by George Smith in his Collection of Designs for Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, 1808, pl. 70. The characteristic ram's head to the end standards correspond to the design by Thomas Hope in his Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, 1807, pl. XXII, nos. 5 and 6, and it is highly probable that Smith's design is directly derived from Hope's ornament.
