拍品专文

This appears to be a very early depiction of Wynyard Hall before the marriage in 1819 of the then incumbent Frances Anne Vane Tempest to the 3rd Marquess of Londonderry after which a new house and works to the grounds were designed and built by Philip Wyatt (1775-1852). The inscription on the painting refers to John Tempest (1710-1776) whose daughter Frances Tempest (d. 1796) married Rev. Sir Henry Vane, 1st Bt. (1728-1794). Their son Sir Henry Vane-Tempest, 2nd Bt., (1771-1813) was Lady Frances’s father.
