Another set of four, very similar examples, by the same maker but with Dublin hallmarks for 1722-23 were exhibited The Crawford Municipal Art Gallery, Cork Silver and Gold Four Centuries of Craftsmanship, April-June 2005, no. CS247, and are illustrated in the exhibition catalogue (see J. R. Bowen and C. O'Brien, Cork Silver and Gold Four Centuries of Craftsmanship, Cork, 2005, p. 166). A further set, perhaps the same as those in the Cork exhibition, were offered for sale Christie's, New York, 21 October 1993, lot 553.

William Clarke was made free of the Cork Goldsmiths Company ‘in consideration of the sum of 23 shillings stg’ on 17 July 1712, as recorded in the Cork Freeman's Register of 1641-1741 as quoted by J. R. Bowen and C O'Brien, op. cit., p. 181. He served as a Warden of the Company in 1710 and as Master in 1714.
