DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE-BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
The bowl has deep sides raised on a short tapered foot, with the exterior finely enamelled with six stylised floral sprays surrounded by foliage, below a band of interlocking trefoils on a yellow-ground at the rim. The interior is decorated with further flowers encircled by stylised petals and florettes.

Compare this bowl to a pair of similarly decorated bowls from the E.T. Chow Collection, illustrated by Beurdeley and Raindre in Qing Porcelain, pl. 246. Another example in the Simon Kwan Collection is included in the exhibition, Imperial Porcelain of the Late Qing, Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 28. A further example is illustrated in The Wonders of the Potters Palette, Qing Ceramics from the Collection of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong, 1984, no. 101.
