The maker of this chair would have supplied a similar set comprising at least twenty-four chairs to Sir George Savile, 7th Bt. (d. 1743) for Rufford Abbey, Nottinghamshire (one of which is now on public view in the Noel Terry collection at Fairfax House, York (see P. Brown, ed., The Noel Terry Collection of Furniture & Clocks, London, 1987, no. 53).
