The Four Immortals

Liu Jun's life and deeds are not well recorded in history. As he signed some of his paintings with the title Jinyi Douzhihui (Commander of the Brocade-clad Guards, the imperial military secret police), we know that he was a court painter. This painting is made with a realistic approach. From the characters' clothing to their complexions and gestures, all are captured in detail, with vigorous and fine brushstrokes. Each with a different body posture, the characters are lively as well as expressive.
