With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial, raised hour markers in rose gold and tachometer scale in 1937 and its subsequent sale on 25 November 1937.

This watch is a very appealing example of one of the extremely rare references 130 in pink gold fitted with a superb two-tone silvered sector or aviator dial. The combination of the grain-finished segment for the railway fifths of a second section contrasting with the plain centre and outer ring featuring the tachymetre scale render the watch a unique and extremely smart look.

It is believed to be one of only 4 examples of a reference 130 in pink gold with such a sector dial known to exist. As a matter of fact, gold chronographs with sector dials are much rarer, for obvious reasons, than their peers cased in stainless steel.

The production of the simple chronograph with reference 130 was launched in 1934. The model was produced in different precious metal versions as well as in stainless steel.

Further examples of early reference 130 chronographs with sector dials are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 263 and in Ore d'Oro 2 by Jader Barracca, Negretti, Franco Nencini, pl. C9.

The present watch is prominently described and illustrated in Patek Philippe Complicated Wrist Watches by Giampiero Negretti & Paolo de Vecchi, pp. 34 & 35.
