On rectangular ivory panel seated on a European chair, holding a manuscript inscribed [..] Zafar (?) Mirza 'Ali Khan [..], a European maritime painting on the wall behind him, he seats under a red curtain, the reverse inscribed in Persian with dates of AH 1160 and AH 1261 and with name of Muhammad [..] Kuchak"

This portrait possibly depicts Nawab Mirza 'Ali Khan Bahadur, an illegitimate son of Asaf al-Dawla raised to the titles of nawab bahadur and nawab. He was then repudiated by Asaf al-Dawla who denied paternity (https://www.royalark.net/India4/oudh9.htm).
