A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE BLACK-GROUND FIVE-PIECE GARNITURE
YONGZHENG PERIOD (1723-1735)
Comprising three baluster jars and covers and two beaker vases, each finely and brightly enamelled with quatrefoil panels depicting two figures on a bridge crosssing a river in an extensive hilly landscape, alternating with floral panels of peony, peach blossom and daisy, all reserved on a black ground with densely scrolling chrysanthemum flowers and green foliage, a band of deep puce lappets encircling the feet and necks, the domed covers surmounted by seated Buddhist lion finials, with partially illegible label inscribed: Beatrice Flancard(?).
