The present work is one of a series of postcard collage works by David Mach. In these pieces Mach takes multiple copies of a postcard and by positioning them across the work, recreates an iconic image, here of Dutch footballer Ruud Gullit. The postcard that Mach has used in the present work is Cloelia passing the Tiber by Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), painted circa 1630-40, in the Dresden Gemaldegalerie collection.
