A CLOISONNE ENAMEL FACETED VASE, FANGHU
SECOND HALF 17TH CENTURY
The vessel is of square section flanked by two lion-mask and loose-ring handles. The body is decorated on the front and back sides with a panel depicting a front-facing, four-clawed dragon clutching a flaming pearl, and on each narrow side with a diving phoenix, all within bands of ruyi clouds and archaistic birds. The spreading foot is decorated with horses amidst crashing waves, haima, and the flaring neck with a band of plantain leaves.
