This snuff bottle is carved in imitation of the silk purses which were one of the accessories suspended from the court belt worn by members of the Imperial court, such as those illustrated in The Complete Treasures of the Palace Museum - 51 - Costumes and Accessories of the Qing dynasty, Hong Kong, 2005, p. 7 (bottom).
