A RARE PARCEL-GILT BRONZE ARCHAISTIC RECTANGULAR CENSER, FANGDING
CHENGHUA SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN A SQUARE AND POSSIBLY OF THE PERIOD (1465-1487)
The censer is cast with tall sides bearing flame-like flanges at the edges, applied with a pair of upcurved handles. It is supported on four feet modelled in the form of paws emanating from the jaws of mythical beasts. The two long sides are each decorated with a striding dragon, and the shorter sides with lion masks. The mark to the base is highlighted in gilt and cast in relief.
