The short inscription Zhen Xiang Fo Kong Zhang Feng Juan may be translated as 'Presented by Zhang Feng (also known as) Zheng Xiang Fo Kong'
The name Zheng Xiang Fo Kong is a recorded alias of the seventeenth century Nanjing painted Zhang Feng. The long inscription to the mount on the present lot, may be read as, 'Ming Dynasty, painting presented bu Zhang Feng to a Buddhist temple. Painting of the Supremely Dreadful One bought in Mid-Autumn 1993 in Pingyao, having benefited from meticulous remounting after damage. Treasure from the Collection of Wang Yongning.
