VIENNA, LAST QUARTER 19TH CENTURY, MAKER'S MARK 'SG' POSSIBLY FOR SIMON GRUNWALD
Overall painted in enamel with various mythological scenes, the boat-shaped detachable cover with three masts rising from a deck with sailors, engraved 'Patrollus' and 'Odisseus', above a stem cast as a female figure atop a mythological seahorse, on a spreading ovoid base with lion-mask feet, variously stamped 'SG', with guarantee mark for Austria-Hungary and date mark for 1866-1922
26 in. (66 cm.) high; 15¾ in. (40 cm.) wide; 8½ in. (21.5 cm.) deep
