A FINE JUN-GLAZED LOTUS-BUD SHAPED WATER POT
YUAN/EARLY MING DYNASTY, 14TH CENTURY
The water pot is finely potted with a globular body tapering towards a narrow mouth. It is covered overall with a thick glaze of milky lavender-blue tone with a faint purplish tinge, thinning to mushroom at the rim and ending irregularly above the biscuit foot.

A30; the second is in the Bristol City Art Gallery and included in the 1954 Venice exhibition of Chinese Art, Catalogue, no. 483; a third one was included in Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Ceramics, Kau Chi Society of Chinese Art, Hong Kong, 1981, Catalogue, no. 35 and later sold at Sotheby's London, 11 December 1984, lot 233; another one is in the Eumorfopoulos Collection, Catalogue, vol. 2, pl. XXVI, no. B88; the fifth example is illustrated by John Ayers in Catalogue of the Seligman Collection, vol. II, 1964, pl. XXXIV, no. D.94.
