Archduchess Maria-Carolina of Habsburg, daughter of Empress Maria-Theresa and Emperor Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor, married Ferdinand IV, King of Naples, in 1768. Only nine of their numerous children survived beyond early childhood. A sister of Queen Marie-Antoinette of France, she was the grandmother of the Duchess of Berry.
