Caroline-Mathilde (1751-1775), daughter of Frederick-Lewis, Prince of Wales and sister of King George III, married King Christian VII of Denmark in 1766. Her liaison with Johann-Friedrich Struensee, the Premier Minister and important reformer, ended with the divorce of the royal couple in 1772. Struensee was executed and Caroline-Mathilde banished and imprisoned in Celle where she died aged 24.
