Fouquet was one of the premier Paris jewelry firms of the late 19th and early 20th century and employed designers as iconic as Alphonse Mucha. Established around 1860 by Alphonse Fouquet (1828-1911), his son, Georges Fouquet (1862-1957) took over the business in 1895. His son, Jean, joined the family firm in 1919 and was known for his Art Deco designs, which likely include this refined cane handle. Fouquet exhibited at the 1895 Salon des Artistes Français and several international exhibitions, including one in Liege in 1905 and in Milan in 1906.
