LATE MING/EARLY QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
The cup is carved with straight walls raised on a short cylindrical foot, flanked by two large loop handles in the form of crouching chilong dragons, each with its head and paws clinging to the mouth rim, its long curvy body swinging to one side with hind legs and long tail clambering onto the body of the cup. The mottled celadon stone has russet inclusions and streaks. The wood cover is pierced with scroll pattern and surmounted by a coral finial decorated with a further chilong.
