A CARVED AND PIERCED WHITE JADE MINIATURE TOOL VASE
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Of rectangular section, the vase is finely carved in high relief and openwork to depict a dense continuous landscape formed by jagged rocks, pine trees and a crane in flight. It is further detailed with a lone scholar in a pavilion, set on stilts beside a river bank, observing his companions walking in the far distance in a landscape scene. The vase is raised on four short splayed feet, fitting into a separately carved rectangular spinach-green jade stand with stylised C-scrolls forming the foot.
3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm.) high with stand
