The hexagonal top carved with stylised leaves, inset with a later pink variegated marble top above a cushion moulded frieze with a single drawer, with a painted '3' to the drawer and underside, on acanthus clasped C-scroll supports

Descriptif du lot

The design of this table is taken from plate 14 of Thomas King's The Modern Style of Cabinet Work Exemplified, first published in 1829. Ceylonese examples typically feature a specimen wood top. For a very similar example, also featuring a later marble top, see Amin Jaffer Furniture From British India and Ceylon, V&A publications, 2001, page 372, fig. 181.
