The Gillows pattern for this type of oval dressing-mirror, with a concealed support, dates from 1797 and shows it on a serpentine base (L. Boynton, Gillow Furniture Designs 1760-1800, Royston, 1995, fig. 195).
A similar dressing-mirror was sold anonymously, Christie's, London, 16 September 2004, lot 2.
