The conjoined double ducks each with plump body with wings tightly folded, beak closed and small, pierced eyes to the sides and the tail as spout, painted overall in reddish brown.

Colima art is noted for the number of animals depicted among the range of varied hollow figures. These include dogs, deer, gopher, parrots, ducks and aquatic birds. Some of these creatures represent prized food yet the ancient West Mexicans might have noted that these animals which were closely intertwined with the particular realms of the earth, the underground, the sky or water, might also possess a mythic connection to these phenomena of nature. Actually among the modern day Huichol of Nayarit as well as the Pueblo Indians of the American Southwest "ducks", with their ability to travel great distances and dive beneath the waters, are considered as messengers of the gods.
