REPUBLIC PERIOD (1912-1949), DATED TO THE CYCLICAL YEAR OF XINWEI, CORRESPONDING TO 1931
The rectangular plaque is decorated with Damo wearing loose robes crossing a river, his bare feet standing on a stalk of reed, with a crane in flight above him. The inscription to the left of the plaque contains several poetic lines, and dates this to the winter of the cyclical year of xinwei, with the signature of Wujun. There are two seal marks, one containg Wujun's name and the other containing the name of his studio.
31¾ x 8 1/8 in. (80.7 x 20.7 cm.)

The poetic lines may be translated as:
'Crossing the Yangtse with one stalk of reed, facing the great cliff for nine years, with the body light as a feather, and the heart eternally peaceful and void.'
