A SET OF PALE GREENISH-WHITE JADE WRITING IMPLEMENTS AND ZITAN BOX
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
Comprising: two brushes; a square ink paste box and cover; a rectangular weight carved in low relief on top with a chilong; a smaller weight carved on top with archaistic C-scrolls; a stand-form ink rest; a pendant carved in openwork with the 'Three Friends', pine, prunus and bamboo; five small seals, one with recumbent animal knob; and a reddish-brown stone inkstone in a fitted wood box; together with a fitted zitan box and cover, the top of the cover with decoration of paler color sliding open to reveal a shallow compartment, and the interior of the box fitted with a pale blue silk-lined removable tray that holds the writing implements, above a separate drawer that slides out one end of the box
The box and cover: 4 1/16 in. (10.3 cm.) high, 11 9/16 in. (29.3 cm.) wide, 7 7/16 in. (18.8 cm.) deep
