Sugata [configuration]: hira-zukuri Kitae [forging pattern]: ko-itame mixed with masame Hamon [tempering pattern]: suguha of nioi Boshi [tip]: maru-boshi Nakago [tang]: machi-okuri with two holes Horimono [carving]: bonji above grooves to the omote; deity Kisshoten to the ura

Motohaba [width at start of tempered edge]: 1 1/8in. (2.8cm.)
Habaki [collar]: single, gilt-copper, late 19th century
Koshirae [set of mounts]: gold hirame ground saya decorated with Mito school silvered-metal fittings en suite decorated and pierced as a multitude of cherry blossoms, some in a stream, comprising a large kojiri, kurikata on large jiita, kozuka in takabori with signature Seiryoken Hagiya Katsuhira and kao, uragawara and fuchi, the baleen-bound tsuka fitted with a large kashira in the form of a phoenix, details of face, feathers and legs in gilt, a single menuki (2)
