From what must have been a charming tea service, part of a small group of early European subject wares reflecting the Chinese court's fascination with Westerners. A teabowl and saucer in the Khalil Rizk Collection, formerly in the Geoffrey Godden Collection, was sold Sotheby's, New York, 25 April 2008; another from the W Martin Hurst Collection and later the Mottahedeh Collection sold Sotheby's, New York, 19 October 2000, lot 189.
