MUNSTER, LATE 18TH CENTURY, ATTRIBUTED TO THE WORKSHOP OF PHILIPP FERDINAND BARTSCHER

The distinctive marquetry decoration of this commode is clearly inspired by French and Dutch cabinetmakers but shows also the characteristic design of Philipp Ferdinand Ludwig Batscher (1749-1823). Bartscher was appointed Hofmaler und Möbelfabrikant in Rietberg, Germany.
