Banded and crossbanded overall, inlaid with quarter veneered panels and a central foliate roundel, the rectangular canted top above three long drawers inlaid sans traverse

The distinctive marquetry decoration of this commode is clearly inspired by French and Dutch cabinetmakers but shows also the characteristic design of Philipp Ferdinand Ludwig Batscher (1749-1823). Bartscher was appointed Hofmaler und Möbelfabrikant in Rietberg, Germany.
