Of square form, the corners folding over to enclose the centre, padded, comprising panels of floral brocades on coloured silk grounds, in a triple brocade and lilac silk outer border with applied needlework lozenges with gold centres, plaited silk securing tie, plain lining

A very similar pillow case is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but with all the colours having faded to an even tan, so with a completely different appearance to the present example. The arrangement of patches is similar, and they are encompassed within an almost identical brocaded border. (James C.Y.Watt and Anne C.
