There are several inscriptions by Xu Hanqing on the cloth box. One on the cover reads: 'gold-inlaid water pot finely made by Jiang Qianli of Ming', followed by Chunzhai. One on the inner removable cover repeats what is on the cover, and that it was recorded by Xu Hanqing in the second month of 1936. An inscription on the side of the box states that the water pot is of the Kangxi period, and the inscription on the bottom of the box states that it was made by Jiang Qianli.
