TWO FOLK ART CARVED SOFTWOOD PIPES
PROBABLY LIMBURG, EARLY 19TH CENTURY
Both carved from branches in four segments with a whistle to the top, the pipe itself with a lid; one surmounted by a hound, the other surmounted by two seated figures
Together with a carved birchwood tobacco box, the box modelled as a seated lion with the lid to the front carved with a drinking man, 19th Century - 10 cm. high; and a red-stained carved wood tobacco box, dated 1856, the divided sliding lid carved with the temptation of Eve and the expulsion from paradise, the base carved with the name of the owner Zeger van Haltenn - 17.8 cm. wide (4)
