QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEALMARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The wide body tapering towards the quatrefoil mouth rim and moulded on each main side with peach-shaped cartouches, the narrow sides with a pair of applied lug handles, covered overall with an unctuous glaze of dark red tone streaked with purple and lavender, thinning to a clear colour at the rim, lobed edges and handles, the base covered with a pale brown wash

A flambe-glazed vase of this form with a Qianlong seal mark is illustrated by de Vasselot and Ballot, The Louvre Museum: Chinese Ceramics, vol. II, pl. 35. Another Qianlong-marked flambe-glazed fanghu-form vase of similar height (12 in.) was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 26 April 2004, lot 1058 and another at Christie's New York, 17 September 2008, lot 521.
