The handle modelled as a female figure rising from a grotesque mask and terminating in a dolphin's head, bifurcated scroll thumbpiece, mounts chased with vignettes of St. George slaying the dragon and other figures separated by fruit and flowers, the finial modelled as a knight in chain-mail on rearing horse, a frog by the horse's foot, the sides finely carved in high relief with a ferocious battle scene including hounds savaging a fallen horse, a man loading a crossbow and a mounted knight falling back, pierced by an arrow, gilt interior
