maker's mark of Christian II Drentwett, Augsburg, 1765-1767
The two-handled tureen of bombé form on four applied openwork rococo scroll feet, the similar handles rising from applied rococo cartouches, the sides repoussé and chased with two cartouches incorporating a stag and hunting rifle, a boar and lance, one engraved with a coat-of-arms, the domed cover with four applied rococo cartouches and finial cast and chased as a hare amongst branches, hound with dead bird and a putto holding a bird, the two-handled stand with scroll and flower border with applied hunting horn, pistol and dead birds, the openwork rococo handles with applied rabbit and hunting swords and stags's head and rifle, engraved with similar coat-of-arms, marked on tureen, cover and stand
