The flattened thin purplish-brown stone with irregular sides, the palette surface smoothly polished, indented at one side forming an ink pool, with three green 'eyes', the reverse inscribed with a poem in running script, followed by the artist's name, Wei Song, the right-hand side incised with Yuyu Tang cang, 'Collection of the Yuyu Hall'; with a fitted burlwood box and cover, the interiors lacquered black
