BOX: three tier brass-bound box, drop handles, ivory plaque inscribed 'The/Time', brass bowl and gimbal DIAL: 100 mm. diameter silvered dial with state of wind aperture to XII, subsidiary seconds below, signed 'Barraud's/Cornhill LONDON/474', blued steel hands MOVEMENT: main-frame carrying fusee with Harrison's maintaining power, barrel and centre wheel, sub frame with remainder of train and Earnshaw's detent escapement to cut bimetallic Pennington balance with brass cross arm and brass affixes at extremities, blued steel helical balance spring

The firm Barraud was established by the eminent chronometer maker Paul Philip Barraud (1752-1820), whose sons followed him into the business. The company became Barraud & Lund in 1838, trading at 41 Cornhill until 1889.
