With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1955 and its subsequent sale on 14 June 1957. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe original fitted brown presentation box, inside also stamped with the logo of Gobbi Milano.
Fresh to the market, the present reference 1579 is a very attractive and well preserved example of the celebrated chronograph model, retailed by Patek Philippe's renowned agent Gobbi in Milan. It has not been subject to careless polishing, clearly demonstrated by the sharp edges to case and lugs and the crisp gold mark to the side. The unrestored dial impresses with an attractive, uniform cream-coloured patina, the hard enamel signature and scales are raised as one would expect.
Production of reference 1579 was launched in 1943. The large case and the unusual lugs, also called spider lugs because of their resemblance to a spider's legs, make it easily distinguishable from other Patek Philippe chronograph wristwatches of the era.
