With gilt finished cylinder movement, finely pierced and engraved cock and foot, chain fusee, square balluster pillars, metal dustcap, the white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, beetle and poker hands, in plain inner case, the outer case with gold and white enamel floral decoration on blue guilloche enamel to the bezel, the reverse with brown guilloche enamel background centred with an oval panel depicting two ladys in a classical scene on brown enamel background, movement and dustcap signed

George Michael Moser, born in Schaffhausen/Switzerland in 1705, went to England in 1720 and was appointed keeper of the Royal Academy. He died in London in 1783. G.M. Moser was renowned for his fine repousse work on watch cases. He was also reputed as an enameller, notably using the 'en grisaille' technique.
