BOX: three tier with brass line inlaid lid and brass drop side handles, inset bone plaque to the front, brass bowl with inner sprung cover and gimbal DIAL: the 75 mm. diameter silvered dial with subsidiary seconds and signed 'PARKINSON & FRODSHAM/ Exchange Alley/London/1201', blued steel hands MOVEMENT: single chain fusee movement with maintaining power, Earnshaw-type detent escapement to cut bimetallic balance with segmental temperature compensation weights, blued steel helical balance spring, the top plate signed 'Parkinson & Frodsham/Change Alley/London'; winding key

The business Parkinson and Frodsham was established in 1801 by William Parkinson and William Frodsham, the grandson of the founder of Frodshams, also William. The company is recorded at Change Alley 1828-1842 and then later at Budge Row. Four of William Frodsham's sons joined the business which continued trading until 1947.
