The part-fluted sides centred by an oval crested cartouche surrounded by chased scrolls and fish-scale decoration, foliate motifs stamped above the fluting and on either side of the rope-work border, the cover with rayed fluting and a central rosette, scroll thumb-piece, the underside engraved with scratch-weight 24=16 and later engraved A.D. 1704 T.M.S. A.D. 1899
