CIRCA 1724-25, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS AND K.P.M. MARK AND GILDER'S 83. TO TEAPOT, THE COVER GILT WITH 83. ABOVE CROSSED SWORDS MARK
Of bombé form, the curved spout issuing from a gaping mask, the sides painted with figures of Orientals at various pursuits within shaped quatrefoil cartouches edged with gilt scrolls enclosing Böttger-lustre panels issuing iron-red scrolling leaves, the plain ground painted with insects and trailing stylised flowers, the cover painted with Orientals on terraces below a knop finial (teapot with slight wear to gilding on tip of spout, gilding and mark on cover possibly refreshed)
